Decision on the Source of Funding for the net cost incurred in providing universal service obligations during 2013

In December 2016, the MCA published its decision on the ‘Review of GO plc’s application for funding of the net cost claimed to have been incurred to provide universal service obligations during 2013’ including the result of an auditing exercise carried out by an independent body. Following an analysis and assessment for funding in relation to the net costs claimed by GO plc on the universal service obligations (USOs), it was established that the calculated cost for the provision of the USOs amounted to €101,538. Following a consultation on a proposed decision on the source of funding, the MCA is today publishing its decision entitled ‘Source of Funding for the net cost incurred in providing universal service obligations during 2013’ confirming that the claim shall be funded from public funds.
