"Internet governance is the development and application by Governments, the private sector, and civil society, in their respective roles, of shared principles, norms, rules, decision-making procedures, and programmes that shape the evolution and use of the Internet." World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

The Malta Internet Governance Forum is a national multi-stakeholder forum where industry, government, academia and civil society meet to discuss key issues associated with the Internet. Its aim is to provide a local forum that engages interested stakeholders in debate on Internet Governance issues.
