The MCA is inviting experts to form part of a Think Tank

The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) is establishing a 5G Think Tank with a view to explore opportunities and challenges related to the development of 5G and its applications in Malta.  Experts from the private and the public sector are being invited to form part of this expert group and to participate in a series of dialogues about the benefits and potential use of 5G connectivity.

The fifth generation of mobile telecommunications (5G) technology has the potential to change the way we live, work, and play.  5G does not simply enhance mobile coverage and data speed. It is purposely designed to be the first generation of cellular networks to enable the digital transformation of various industries such as health, agriculture, manufacturing, media and communications, transport, energy, building services, public security and defense, the public sector and many more.

The lead applications for 5G are:

- Better multi-media experiences through enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB)

- Mission-critical device control through ultra-reliable, low-latency communication (URLLC).

-  Large scale Internet of Things through massive machine-type communication (mMTC).

The 5G Think Tank welcomes and encourages the involvement of experts from the sectors of Telecommunications, ICT,  Health, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Media and Communications, Research and Education, Transport, Energy, Building Services, the Public security and defense, Public Sector and any other industry, and who would find value in considering and evaluating how 5G can affect their business models, products and services.

The MCA is inviting applications from experts interested in contributing to this 5G Think Tank.
