MCA demands that postal operators improve their procedures

Two licenced postal services operators falling within the scope of the universal service, have been requested by the Malta Communications Authority (MCA) to improve their procedures.

Postal services fall within the scope of the universal service when their service expands beyond express mail.

Licence conditions stipulate that companies observe a set of requirements, such as appropriate procedures for mail integrity and complaint handling.

The MCA carries out periodic reviews of the procedures pertaining to postal operators, in order to assess whether they are appropriate to each respective operator’s services, and that they are maintained accordingly.

Following a recent review of the procedures of the companies involved, the MCA has formally notified DHL Malta Ltd and Premiere Post Ltd to address specific matters related to their licencing obligations, in order to ensure that end-users receive a quality service.
