The MCA’s Participation in the 2017/2018 BEREC Training Course
The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) participated in training organised by the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC).
The training which was over 4 session was held in Brussels and included the participation of various European National Regulatory Authorities experts. The course aimed to provide training on the regulatory framework and other issues related to BEREC activities.
The training covered various topics related to the telecommunications sector, mainly focusing on the amended EU electronic communications regulatory Framework, markets, competition and (ex-ante) regulation, access and interconnection, end-user regulation and spectrum policy. Additionally, as part of the training, participants were also given the opportunity to participate in an on-site visit held with Proximus, one of the largest Belgian mobile telecommunication company. During the visit, participants were given the chance to view and observe the equipment and cables used by this telecommunications company in order for it to provide service to the public.
Through the various explanations, discussions and exercises held with experts from all across Europe, the BEREC training offered a sound background on the telecommunications sector. The training provided the MCA’s staff members attending the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in this sector.
