Malta identified as an ecosystem to watch in blockchain, fintech and gaming
The findings of the 2018 Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) were discussed during a stakeholder seminar organised by the Malta Communications Authority (MCA).
The report was co-published by Startup Genome and the Global Entrepreneurship Network, in partnership with Crunchbase, Dealroom.co, Tech Nation and Orb Intelligence. It provides an assessment on the health of global startup ecosystems based on insights from over 10,000 founders and partners in more than 40 ecosystems. Data was collected between October 2017 and February 2018.
Malta’s inclusion in this report falls under the MCA’s efforts to generate intelligence on Malta’s technology innovation landscape.
During the seminar, Marc Penzel, COO at Startup Genome, presented a deep dive analysis on Malta’s performance. He explained that Malta is in a nascent stage showing significant promise in blockchain, fintech and gaming. He supported the country’s concerted drive to strengthen these sub-sectors and encouraged efforts to raise its global appeal and further develop the local community.
The Seminar served as a platform to discuss the key study findings and explore related policy options. Over 50 representatives from diverse stakeholder organisations from public and private sectors attended.
