LiveICT Advert
During the month of December 2012 the MCA will be organizing the LiveICT Roadshow that will visit a number of towns and villages around Malta and Gozo targeting individuals aged 55 and over. The roadshow will raise awareness on the potential use of ICT as part of daily life and the opportunities it opens for the elderly. Representatives from the MCA and a number of NGOs will be taking part by talking to people visiting the show. The MCA will also be offering the elderly the opportunity to enrol to a free basic ICT course.
The roadshow will feature a number of testimonials by aged individuals who have benefited from using ICT in their lives. These will further encourage ageing individuals to embrace ICT and integrate it in their daily life.
The roadshow is important in meeting the eAgeing aim of empowering aged individuals to participate fully in the economy and society, to continue independent lifestyles and to enhance their quality of life through the use of ICT. 68% of all individuals who have never used the Internet are aged 55+.
The roadshow will send a message to this section of society that ICT is useful, relevant and easy to use.
The MCA is organizing this roadshow because it is one of the best ways to reach out to the community and the targeted segment of society by visiting open markets and busy shopping areas. It would offer the target an opportunity to discuss in person their daily needs and ways to use ICT in their everyday activity. Furthermore, the roadshow will coincide with early Christmas shopping.
The roadshow will tour a total of 14 locations over a 2 week period. It will be manned by a person from the MCA and 2 persons from NGOs.
