  1. 8th eCommerce Forum: ‘Looking into the future of eCommerce’ is the theme chosen for the next eCommerce forum to be held on Wednesday, 16th May 2012 at the Pisces Hall, Le Meridien, St. Julian’s. Publications

  1. Key Market Indicators for electronic communications and post Q1 2005 – Q4 2011: The purpose of this publication is to inform the general public on the main trends and developments in Malta concerning electronic communications and post. View this publication.
     
  2. Interim review of wholesale mobile termination rates – Consultation and Proposed Decision: This consultation proposed a rate of €0.0245, representing a decrease of 41% from the current rate of €0.0418. The consultation period came to a close on 30th April 2012. Feedback was received from Vodafone (Malta) and Melita. The Authority will now evaluation the feedback received and publish a decision in due course.

 

Litigation and other legal matters

  1. No appeals Board sittings were held during this period.
     
  1. Separate sittings were held before the Court of Magistrates in cases that MCA has, which relate to the collection of outstanding general authorisation fees against Melitanet Ltd and Sesco Investments Ltd respectively. These two cases were adjourned to October 2012, during which the companies in question are to submit their evidence.

On the 24 April 2012 – the First Hall of the Civil Court rejected all the claims made by Melita Plc against MCA and the Minister responsible for Competitiveness and Communications (previous designation for Minister concerned) whereby Melita had requested the Court to declare reg. 26 of LN 167 of 2001 as being ultra vires the powers granted to the Minister under the Electronic Communications (Regulation) Act. Melita had also requested that any regulatory decision taken on the basis of that provision be declared null and void.
