Building and sustaining an online presence: MCA organises workshop for intermediary organisations
A number of presentations on web strategies and best practices in the use of social media were given, touching upon set-up costs, resource requirements and the use of a number of additional online applications across the social media landscape and how these fit in to an overall web strategy.
Ms. Lize de Clercq, an online communications expert with over 10 years experience in the field of web editing, digital journalism, online community management, project management and training led the workshop. Her experience as an independent consultant helping non-profits and small businesses manage their online presence and social media channels brought an interesting perspective to the workshop, sharing with delegates the challenges faced and achievements gained throughout her experiences.
Delegates from a wide range of voluntary organisations engaged in discussions with Ms. de Clercq on how they too can enhance their digital skills with the ultimate objective of improving their online presence.
Ms. de Clercq is also heavily involved in the WebCheck project for voluntary organisations. This project is being coordinated by the MCA in collaboration with the Commissioner for voluntary organisations and is intended to assist these intermediary organisations maximise their web presence by allocating experts to review their respective websites and internet strategies and recommend ways on how these can be improved and aligned more closely with their overall business strategy.
In line with the objectives of this workshop, the MCA will be presenting an award for the best use of ICT by voluntary organisations on the 23rd October 2013.
