Bilateral meeting MCA / UKE

In line with its objective to strengthen working relations with other European national regulatory authorities, the Malta Communications Authority (MCA) welcomed a delegation from the Polish Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) at its premises at the Valletta Waterfront.  MCA and UKE are both members of BEREC (the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications).

The bilateral meetings between MCA and UKE were held, providing an opportunity to further consolidate relations between the two authorities.

The cordial discussions centred around a variety of topics, comprising: the regulation of markets, infrastructure access, broadband mapping, net neutrality and quality of service.  Views were also exchanged on current and planned campaigns targeting end users, as well as upcoming initiatives aimed at increasing digital skills.

All the topics were discussed in the context of the upcoming transposition and implementation of the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) which will come into effect across the European Union by end 2020.   The EECC is the new European legislation for electronic communications which will drive Europe through an era of next generation services and technologies by promoting investment, competition, consumer protection and the development of new innovative services.

MCA and UKE look forward to further future collaboration.
